I hope this helps with those students who are always shouting out. In passing I saw this book My Mouth is a Volcano and naturally I thought ofmy friend. Another book that shows the action and the consequence. You will not believe how my kids responded to the story. The case of the blurts that my friend had was pretty disturbing in the beginning of the year. I have been loving Julia Cook's book called My Mouth is a Volcano. Ten Lessons On Volcano Boarding in Nicaragua to Avoid Near-Death and Sand In Mouth. These books helps generate ideas for setting our classroom guidelines. After searching a little more, I found several teachers. I first saw the idea for a "blurt chart" on Dana's blog. I found this great idea off of spend a day in second grade. Well, I was having a huge problem with blurting out in the beginning of the year until I found the perfect solution- My Mouth is a Volcano. What We're Reading at Mama's this week: My Mouth is a Volcano! I made her darling blurt chart. Of course, given that Cerro Negro was way overdue for eruption it was also possible I would have to outboard lava. It's a great chart to go with the book My Mouth is a Volcano.
